iBrickr v0.2 released - iPhone modding for Windows made easy

Tags: ibrickr, iphone, modding, release, ringtones, software
Hey everyone - I just released the first version of iBrickr, a Windows app that makes iPhone modding easy. Just download it, run it, and plug in your iPhone and it will guide you through the steps, doing most of the work for you.

iPhones modified this way do not need to be "unjailbroken" to work with iTunes - your iPhone will always appear the same to iTunes as it ever did.

Right now ringtone management is the star feature, with application management via PXL being less useful because PXL packages are at the moment hard to come by.

It has an in-built error reporting architecture (you get to review everything that gets sent my way though), so if something goes wrong I can help you out with it and get back to you via e-mail.

So check it out, and let me know what you think.

well.. It works.. untill the point where I want to upload a whole MP3 song for a ringtone, then it just tells me "failed for some reson" :/

also.. I have no clue what so ever of where I get hang of some .plx aps.. :)

so it was only usefull for me in the pert where i unjail it.. and I actually allredy had done that.. but your app wanted me to do it again. :)

Amazing! Worked out of the box perfectly for me, no hassles. It won't brick your iPhone, despite the name!

It works great except the dialog that says hold down power button and home button for itunes recovery, when its actually hold down home button and connect to dock for itunes recovery.

Awsome - worked great except for my goof - when holding down the power and home button to get to the triangle after unjailing make sure the iphone is in the dock. Everything else was smoooooth!

Nate, you've done a lot of good with this creation. I need a way to create iPhone applications with a Windows XP PC. Since you made it possible for Windows to enter the sacred land of the iPhone, can you give me some ideas how I can compile applications for the iPhone in the XP PC. I really need your help with this.

I'm having a huge problem. After putting lockdownd into the iPhone. I shut it down and followed the regular iBrickr procedures. I was able to unlock the iPhone, but I noticed that the service was not reading. I checked the about and it told me that it was version 1.00, not 1.02. I updated it to 1.02 and then the iPhone refreshed to show me the yellow "please connect to iTunes" screen. iBrickr won't read the iPhone anymore and I can't access the iPhone anymore. It keeps on giving me the yellow screen and when I connect it to iTunes, it gives me errors when it tries to restore. I can't get back to the regular iPhone screen and i'm really worried. I tried resetting the computer, and re-downloading iBrickr but it's useless. How can I go back to the regular iPhone screen and update the firmware to 1.02 without freezing it? I even downloaded iPhone1,1_1.0.2_1C28_Restore and select clicked this file after clicking on restore... please help. I use Windows... thanks in advance!

Found up and running "Official Mirror" @ http://iphone.exploit.org/pxl/ Not sure if really "official or not.
Question for Nate: Are PXL's on the way out? Merging with another format. If so, what are we iBrickr to do???

I was wondering if using brickr (WinXP PRO) can be used with the new iPod Touch for adding third party apps.
