There's been this "25 things" trend on Facebook where people post 25 things about themselves and let all their friends learn a little more. I decided to post my 25 things here because not all of you follow me on Facebook.

I've been meaning to do my 25 things for a while. As a somewhat private person it's generally quite difficult for me to open up. But here goes.


1. My full name is Nathaniel Paul True. Nathaniel means “God has given” and Paul means “small”.

2. As I was growing up I was fascinated with how my toys worked and would take them apart all the time. I soon became interested in assembling my own electronics and dove into that.

So here's Erythema, a 4-month-old Green Cheek Conure. She is not afraid of my camera (a Kodak V570) so I can get up close and take some great pictures of her (Pistachio was dead scared of inanimate objects).

She is a fan of shoulder-cuddling and, like most conures, will not poop when she's on your shoulder. I still have to teach her to step onto my finger, which is why I clipped her wings last night. I am generally loath to clip a bird's wings, as flying is kind of their thing. She can get her flight back once she's learned that she needs people to take her where she wants to go.

]]> Having accidentally killed my old birdy Pistachio in my sleep a couple weeks ago, I decided I needed another bird to replace him. So here's Erythema, a 4-month-old Green Cheek Conure. Got him off of Craigslist from a woman who's moving out of state. He looks quite healthy, save for some untrimmed claws and a weird two-layered beak. He is super-sweet though. Snuggles right up to your neck.

Last night he was scared or something and insisted on sleeping next to my head, under this home-made stuffed creature.
