I installed Dock 2.0 and have had some problems with it and other applications. I like the app alot and it looks impressive, however the placement of the starburst in the bottom right hand corner is not the best spot. I continually click on it by accident when scroooling to the bottom of the page in other apps. clicking on the burst by accident while in other apps like itoggle and customize has causedmy phone to crash and reboot. The last time I was making changes to my configuration turing off bluetooth and other functions I then touched the sunburst by accident and it began to load when my phone froze. Subsequenly I had to reboot it and then when I rebooted it it now is in a reboot loop and wont start. I am stuck!

How do I uninstall this application??? I can't get the phone to boot properly! I still have SSH access but I do not see the app in the /library/launchdaemons folder I have checked and the application is no where to be found
Can I delete it from the Applications folder??
I can't find it in their either
HELP!!!!!
Thanks in advacne for any help with this !!

If you want to manually uninstall this app, you should log in to your iPhone using ssh (such as Fugu), and go /library/launchdaemons. There you will find a launchdaemon for Dock, which makes sure the app is launched when you boot your iPhone. I don't know the name for the file, but it's got the word 'Dock' in it, so it should be pretty easy. Delete it and reboot your iPhone, and you're good.

First, thanks for this great application. The UI is great, I have just one issue with it overall. As mentioned previously by user: iob, if you don't have a picture in the photoalbum already, then the screenshot feature does not work. It doesnt seem like many people have noticed this flaw so far likely because they all have pictures already or they havent bothered to mention it :)

The problem with the current screen shot occurs only if you have Zero(0) photos and have never taken photos. It seems the screen shot function assumes the existence of the 100APPLE folder in the DCIM folder in the Media folder and does not try to create it if it doesn't exist. This can be easily worked around by simply taking 1 photo using the camera and then you can delete that photo.

Found the fix to broken the screenshot app, and terminal unexpected shutdowns!

Ok! I went into restore mode and restored my iphone, but when iTunes asked if i wanted to sync back all my saved settings i exited out of itunes and installed apptapp, then BSD, then Dock. took a first picture to have something on my iphone, and took a screen shot. worked like a charm. then i went into apptapp again and installed open ssh, and all my other apps, terminal is working again fine and all is running smooth. Then i went back to itunes and synced back all my old settings.

Dont know 100% for sure, but i think the dropbear and bin-kit from ibricker might have been causing the problem. it may be good to try just removing those apps from an effected phone and see... then again it may have been bad settings store on my itunes backup.

Also note, you dont need dropbear or bin-kit to use winSCP or similar program to ssh into your phone, use apptapp and install Open SSH, works teh same and i can verify that WinSCP works like a charm! now if some one would just make a good password changer for windows or directly on the iphone!

thanks
Jake

Nate, great app. with the number of apps out now i use summerboard a little more but i think your app would make a great quick dialer feature! you think there's any way to modify it to do that? it could either dial direct from the contacts list or perhaps just run an app similar to the 911.app. the user would have to create the phone # apps (much like openurl) but that's pretty easy. then maybe the dock only shows apps that start with a certain sequence of characters and user could use rsbt to hide the apps from the springboard. a quick dialer is one feature that is really missing from the iphone. just a suggestion, great app - keep up the great work!

I love this, but the sunburst in the lower right corner does not consistently activate and its very easy to launch the icon on springboard closest to that corner, or on apps with a button lower right.
It would be awesome if like the dock on a mac, where its launched from could be configured.
Combo of this and summerboard is awesome. I use the scrolling of summerboard to get to all apps on home screen, and then doc allows switching apps without having to press home, when in an app.
Very cool application! I would also like to be able to hide an icon (and maybe later on down the line edit a displayorder.plist type file in order to organize them my way). A cancel button on the left would be useful too (so it's on both sides). Keep up the good work.

Nullriver just released a full-screen scroller called SummerBoard that functions similar to natetrue's scrolling dock. It even provides "real" wallpaper on the background (no cheap icon hacks like has been used up till now). Use that with rSBT to re-arrange icons to your liking. SummerBoard works well with rSBT and there are no apparent bugs that I can tell (if you use rSBT, just be sure you have everything you want access to in one of the catergories other than Hidden). I still wouldn't mind a tweaked version of Dock 1.0 as an option though if it worked as well as SummerBoard does, especially in conjunction with rSBT.

Nice update on Dock 2.0.2 in regards to the selected icon placement. Much better.

One design note: If it's possible, it would be a good idea to "fade" back the brightness of the springboard (or whichever application is currently active) When Dock is invoked. Maybe if you had a fullscreen semi-transparent black background appear under the Dock icons or something. That way, it'll be easier to see the Dock and the icons. The current yellow "glow" around the icons doesn't look so great when you're in the Google Maps app, for instance

Just a suggestion

I can't get the thing to come out for the life of me. I think my fingers are too big or something. I've got it to come out a couple times, but not consistent enough to warrant using it. I'm kind of getting nervous whether or not the bottom of my screen isn't as sensitive as others or something. I don't understand how someone can get it to come out each time they try. Add the options to make the button bigger, put it on the left side, and add/remove/adjust the icons that appear and this dock would be amazing.

There are just no opportunities to figure out when Dock needs to be shown and when it needs to be hidden. So that's why 2.0 is so different - I knew that the only way I could make it was if it was on top of the screen all the time.

P.S. Cybergreg, your iLauncher is cool! you dont have to choose a program if you open up the dock, just move your finger back between the displayed icon (in the bottom right) and the sun corner. it will unhighlight the app currently displayed, then let go

You are very talented! I thought Dock 1 just needed a little work to make it great. It is far better than any other launcher. I was really looking forward to the next release.

Dock 2 is beautiful, but less user friendly. Iguess I have fat fingers, because it takes me several attempts each time to get it to work. Even when it does work, I have to focus on what I'm doing to choose the right app.

Keep up the great work!

OH MAN! I first downloaded the 1.0 dock this morning. Pretty cool. Then updated, WOW an update akready. After installation, I thought somehow my iPhone display had been damaged from the install since there was this mysterious new yellow spot. I flicked the dock and nothing happened. It was a momentary state of confusion. Then I uninstalled the app and it disappeared, whew. So I figured it was something to do with the dock. I came here and now it all makes sense. *relief*

I've been experimenting with rSBT to move around my apps on my screen to match my liking, and relying on either the "Launcher" app to access the remaining off-screen apps or the scrolling version of Dock. The problem I've had with both those launchers is that they apparently only recognize the non-Apple apps and further show all the non-Apple apps even if I have one showing on the Springboard. What I personally would really really hope for is better integration of the previous scrolling Dock app with rSBT. rSBT let's you arrange the icons on your screen to your liking and stores that layout in a DisplayOrder pref list in SpringBoard.app. I would think that it would be simple to create a version of the scrollable Dock that could read that plist and then show and scroll just the "Special" (hidden or unviewable) items in that pref list that rSBT creates. Anyone up to the task? I know I'm not. LOL!

I personally find this "sunburst" dock version less useful than the prior scrolling version simply due to the very small size of the icons. I'm also "committed" to picking something once I open up the list. At least this version shows all the installed apps... I was having a problem with the prior scrolling version in that I was missing a couple apps, and had duplicate entries of a couple that were on the Springboard already. I was about to inquire about a solution but this new version was out. Any chance you could consider continuing to maintain both versions? I'm keeping the sunburst one around for now just for the "wow" factor. :D

Dock 2.0 beautiful, but I have to say that in terms of useability, it's a HUGE step backwards.

I have a Belkin case around my iPhone, and it's pretty much impossible to hit the mini-sunburst in the lower right corner, because the edge of the Belkin case makes it so you can't make good contact with the screen at the edges of the case.

Also, this new UI design makes it very difficult to switch apps with your thumb, when you're holding it in your hand. Dock 1.0 was much better in this regard, because all you had to do was "flick" your thumb or finger in several passes to reveal the app of your choice. And I got used to knowing exactly how many flicks I had to do to get to certain apps.

With the Dock 2.0 UI, you have to awkwardly stretch your thumb or move your finger along the "arc" in order to select the app, and if you have a lot of apps installed, the supertiny icons make it very difficult to find the app you want. I understand that you can see a larger version of the icon while scrolling along the arc, but from a UI standpoint, this is less than ideal, because you can't really see what icon you're close to without actually giving the icon focus to begin with.

Is there a way I can revert to the older version of Dock, until these UI issues can be sorted out?

Nice hacking work in any case, though!

this is incredible, and i really like the new starburst idea.

one suggestion from a purely UI point of view would be to move the large selected application icon above and outside of the applications arch. this way, as you scroll with your thumb, the thumb doesn't cover up the currently selected application icon.

looks great but a few issues. It would be great if it had an icon for it that can be placed in one of the four availble spaces on the bottom and when it is clicked it activates the scrolling as it does now and when clicked again deactivates scrolling. That would fix the issue of it being up when an active program is running
