American Pride-Glory

All > "Art" > American Pride-Glory by jesse
I photoshopped the top picture. It is poking fun at a kind of artwork I do not understand. It's the kind of art you find at a gas station or a dollar store...or one of those "Giftmore" places at the mall. It usually involves eagles, wolves, American flags, lightning, dragons, dreamcatchers, and/or unicorns. Sometimes it's on a T-shirt, other times it takes the form of a fiber-optic statue or fountain. Here are a few examples of this art:

These t-shirts kill me. It makes me almost want one, just to be funny.

Ah...the weird "stuff on horses" figurines...

The bottom right horse with all the horses on it was the main inspiration for a freestyle rap I made with my wife and our friends Will and Tina. The rap is at the bottom of this post.

And who can forget the statues...

To purchase a bizarre statue, please visit a dollar store.

Sometimes people will mix Native American/wilderness/mystical art with patriotic art...and they get this sort of weird, awkward stuff.

Then there's also artwork involving 9-11 imagery. I think people go overboard and it ends up almost diminishing the importance of what happened.

(notice the tiny Twin Towers reflected in the eagle's eye...)

So as a joke for our friends, my wife and I put together this parody.
Here are the detail shots. (Notice the small howling elk on top of Uncle Sam's hat.)

Will and Tina thought it was very funny, so we ended up freestyling a very silly rap song that exemplified all of the tacky art that we just love to hate.

I hope you enjoy it:
