An Iridescent Fist

All > "Art" > Sculpture > An Iridescent Fist by jesse
This is a sculpture I gave to my mother, it functions as a vase (the stems retreat into the forearm). The iradescent color comes from the way it was fired. I used blue dolphin Raku glaze and dropped the hand directly from the kiln (still glowing) into a trash bin full of moist magazines, they catch fire and the color from the heat of the burning paper stays on the surface of the glaze. The hand is an exagerated model of my own.
