Another iphone nes vinyl overlay in the key of Nate

This is not a creation, it's a tweak. I loved natetrue's http://cre.ations.net/creation/vinyl-overlay-for-tactile-feel-on-iphone-nes-emulator creation, but the mask openings for buttons didn't feel right. Since the vinyl doesn't impede the touch input, I tried a small bump in the center of the Dpad, and also over A and B. The bumps act like home-key bumps on your computer keyboard. This was great (read as high score in Defender) but the small vinyl buttons kept sliding around. I tried soapy water (and considered rubbing the iphone on my head to develop a stronger static charge) but couldn't find a reliable and removable adhesive. I think a drop of candle wax might do the trick, but I have an aversion to holding a burning candle to any $500 object that isn't a very expensive birthday cake.

In the end I settled on a full screen overlay with the above mentioned buttons self adhering to control spots. Vinyl sticks to vinyl great. This gave me good control, and buttons remain fixed even in my pocket. I made a version with the vinyl over the NES screen cut out, but opted to stick with the full cover. The view through the vinyl doesn't bother me in most ambient lighting, and more than once I've had the iphone wrestled from me by a curious nine year old; The extra vinyl makes a good
exuberant youth spray shield.

If you come up with a good way to get just 3 small vinyl bumps to
reversibly stick to the iphone screen, give me a shout.

Regards,
Ab

Hey, i read your idea, and its great! i found a way to make the A and B bumps appear on the Vinyl, but it has a few drawbacks, and to me is not worth the trouble. I went at my friends Vinyl with a Uni-Ball pen, and a candle with EXTREMELY HARD WAX! i basically had him hold the Vinyl down, while pressed it as hard as i could. It stretched out within a few days, but ill try heating it a little next time maybe? I dont know if its worth the trouble. I could try disassembling an old nintendo controller for more accurate bumps :@

Go to Home Depot and look for the clear vinyl sticky dots for glass table tops. it is meant to place between the table and the glass so the glass doesn't move and get scratched by the table
