Bleached Khaki Pants: Mandala

All > Fashion > Clothing > Bleached Khaki Pants: Mandala by sykora
I made these for a friend, she mailed me her green khakis, and I used a mandala pattern that I drew several years ago, printed that out, cut it out of paper card stock, and sprayed Elmer's Spray Adhesive on the back of all the little pieces, and carefully affixed them to the pants. I sprayed with bleach, carefully removed the stencils without ripping them, (so I could use them again,) and threw the pants into the wash. I really like how they turned out, and I think the gal who is getting them will like them very much, too! ^_^

Here is the lower right leg with the half removed.
I like how the pre-existing embroidery thread is resistant to the bleach! Nice effect!
The left leg in the works, after washing and drying the pants....
More left leg...
More left leg again... Love the way the gradient of this leg tapers off as you look down the leg....
Finished product, from the side!
A close up of the right leg...
And the finished product! Thanks for looking!

Sy, those look great! I love that design. Very intricate, it must have taken a lot of time to get the whole thing cut out.

Thank you! Yes, it was quite a cutting job. But I was excited to get it done for my friend, so I cut it over several days to save my neck/fingers. My X-acto-knife-wielding stamina could use some beefing up. X)

Your pants look great! I love the design. You've inspired me to try something similar. Thank you!
