Florida Flora Fauna

I walk my dog to this pond place about a mile from my apartment complex about once a week. I always see a lot of beautiful flowers and birds when I go, so I brought my handy digi-cam this time. The main pictures are of a purple passion flower plant I walk by every time. It's a huge viney creeping type plant growing over someone's fence. It's a weird-looking but very pretty flower. Apparently tasty to bees also.

This is a great egret, I think. What's nice about this pond is people always feed the birds, so for the most part they are friendly and won't fly away if you want a close shot. (With the exception of spoonbills...they don't like people!)
Another good shot of the egret.
As I mentioned, spoonbills are fraidy cats and this is about as close as I could get to him, even with full zoom. Weird-looking birds, they actually have blood-red eyes.
A mother muscovy duck and her ducklings, wanting to be fed.
The male muscovy duck is reckless when it comes to begging. He would eat right out of my hand. He bit me a few times, but they don't have teeth, so it was kind of like someone grabbing my fingers with two slimy dominoes. The males are big and fat and really slow for a duck. I was petting him the whole time we was munching this bread, and I could have easily caught him with my bare hands. Despite the ugly face, the feathers are nice and soft.

Woah! I've never "seen" a pond with so many fantastic birds. Where is this?
Also, excellent macro shots :>

It's in Clearwater, Florida. Being native to the Seattle area, when I moved down here I was blown away by all the crazy plants and animals. I've actually seen an *armadillo*!!!! But not sure if it counts, because it was road kill. I also took a picture of a gecko that lives on our porch last night. I'm saving my new pics so I can do a Florida Flora Fauna 2.0 creation.
