High-energy water droplets

All > "Art" > Photography > High-energy water droplets by natetrue
So with the recent snow my apartment ceiling started leaking, necessitating the placement of many bowls and pots and towels to catch the drips.

Of course they're falling from the ceiling to the floor, so they have a lot of energy! This makes for some fantastic photos.
With a camera flash, the images are frozen to an instant of time. I'm not using any sophisticated timing rig, just focusing my camera, then looking up at the ceiling. I remember how long it takes for a drip to fall and then just push the button at the right time.
And every instant is a moment of intense beauty.
Of course the black pot (even though it is non-stick) is not as beautiful as this huge wooden bowl I got. Combined with high-energy water drops these shots are just fantastic.
I love how the water plays with the grain of the wood and distorts, lightens, and darkens them to show its own form.
This one's my favorite one, so far. I love the dome it makes, and all the little ripples on it from all that energy flying everywhere.
I altered my timing a little bit and captured this post-drop turbulence. Amazing how quickly all of that energy is dissipated.
This one was a shade too early, showing the perfect sphere of water before it hits bottom.
Another drop one. This I think is just after the dome collapses.
Last one.

God can always take something bad and produce a blessing from it! Good job at finding it, cuz you could have just sat and complained about your annoying, leaky ceiling and let it get you down.
