~#READ ME#~
Ok, so say you upgraded to 1.1.3 and now regret doing so and miss your third party apps and the only way to jailbreak a 1.1.3 is to start with a 1.1.2 jailbroken iphone but how do you get back to 1.1.2? It is possible to downgrade and upgrade again and still have the phone capabilities of this semi-magical device and in this guide, i will show you how. Take heed, i am not responsible for any complications that may arise with your particular iphone AKA bricked. Also, this process is lengthy and should not be performed on iphones with out of the box 1.1.3. DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK< IM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY MISHAPS!!!!!!! But you shouldnt worry because if you follow my instructions you should, in theroy, be ok =) If at any point in this you iphone goes into recovery then just launch independence. If you ever get main script execcution failed then all you have to do is restart your iphone. If this fails, then just restore to 1.1.1 and start again. DONT DO THIS ON OUT OF THE BOX 1.1.3!!!!!!!!!

Step 1: Download the following files

iphone firmware 1.1.1 here:http://wiki.howardforums.com/index.php/IPhone_Firmware_Downloads

Iphone firmware 1.1.2 here:http://wiki.howardforums.com/index.php/IPhone_Firmware_Downloads

Iphone 1.1.2 jailbreak here:http://conceitedsoftware.com/iphone/site/112jb.html

Independence beta (for mac) here:http://code.google.com/p/independence/

Step 2: Downgrade

Next, put your iphone in to recovery mode by holding the sleep wake button and the home button for about 10 seconds like a normal reset until the screen goes dark and once it does, release the sleep wake button but continue holding down the home button for another 15 sec until itunes has detected that your phone is in recovery mode.

Next, locate the 1.1.1 firmware file you downloaded earlier and take the .zip off of it so it ends in .ipsw. Go back to itunes and hold the option key and click restore. Finder should pop up. Locate the 1.1.1 firmware file and select it. Itunes should do all the extracting and restoring. After the update is finished, itunes will say error 1015 occured. This is normal. Itunes should still be in recovery mode. Do the option restore and thing again and select the 1.1.1 firmware file once again and let itunes extract and restore. Once this is done the same error will occur and the iphone will still be in recovery mode. Next, launch independence and wait a little while (10-20 sec) and your iphone will be kicked out of recovery mode. Close independence. Itunes/iphone will detect incorrect sim. This is also normal.

Step 3: jailbreak 1.1.1

First, slide the slide for emeregency slider and in the keypad type *#307# and call. The phone should start to ring and bring you straight back to the key pad. Now dial 0 the phone will begin to ring again. hit answer, hold decline and this should bring you to the main iphone phone page. Now tap contacts, add contact and name the contact what ever you want. Now go down to add url. add the url pref: and then add another url jailbreakme.com and then save. then tap the contact you just made and hit prefs. This should take you o the iphone settings application. Go to wifi and connect to your wifi point. then go t general<autolock<and change it to never. Then press the home button. Then slide for emergency call and type 0 call. The phone should start to ring. Hit answer, hold, decline again. This should once again launch the phone app. Go back to the contact you made and open it up and this time tap the url jailbreakme.com.
This should launch the safari browser. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and tapp install appsnap. Then DONT TOUCH ANYTHING!!!!!!!! Just wait for the iphone to reboot, this may take a while depending on your connection. Now, once it reboots, you should have a fully jailbroken 1.1.1 iphone. Dont worry, the incorrect sim notice should still be there.

Step 4: Correct Sim!!!!!!! =) (downgrade baseband)

Okay, first launch installer and go to install and scroll down to system. Install the BSD subsystem. Then go to sources, edit, add. type in http://i.unlock.no/ Now go back to install and scroll down to unlocking tools and find the basebanddowngrader. This should take about 5-10mn to install. Once finished, put you phone into recovery mode and do the option restore and once again select the 1.1.1 firmware file once finished, when iphone asks you to restore from back up, dont, just set up as a new phone and you will now notice that you have an activated 1.1.1 iphone!!!! =) (if your iphone goes into recovery mode, just launch independence and let it boot it out) If you want to UNLOCK your iphone, now would be the best time to do so. Just Run anysim.

Step 5: upgrade to 1.1.2

Go to settings and hook up to wifi and then go to general<autolock< and set it to never
Next, launch safari and navigate to jailbreakme.com and scroll to and tap install appsnap. Safari will crash and the iphone will go to the slide to unlock screen. Slide the slider and launch installer. Go to install and scroll down to system and install BSD subsystem. Then scroll down to tweaks 1.1.1 and install oktoprep. once finished, launch itunes and hold down the option key and click the update key and locate the unsipped 1.1.2 firmware file. Select it and let itunes do its thing. When finished, you should have a 1.1.2 iphone.

Step 6: Jailbreak iphone 1.1.2

Close out of itunes and open the 1.1.2 jailbreak file. Click on jailbreak.jar and then click jailbreak me. wait a while and when finished, your iphone MAY go into recovery mode. If so, just launch independence and wait till you are booted out and when finished, you should have a jailbroken iphone 1.1.2 =)

Step 7: upgrade to 1.1.3 and jailbreak

okay, first launch installer, scroll down to system and install the BSD subsystem. Once finished, scroll down to system again and install the official 1.1.3 upgrader. Once finished, press the home button and launch it. this step should take about 20-30mn but once finished, you should have a 1.1.3 jailbroken iphone =) If your iphone goes into recovery mode just launch independence and wait once again

Email me at if this guide was helpful to you or if you have any questions or concerns or just leave me a comment =)

HAPPY HACKING!!!!!

I followed all the instructions successfully.
However I can't find the 113_update in the installer list, I've already install "community sources" and no way to see the package to execute.
I've SCPed my IPhone and I can see the "113_upgrade_image.bin" file in "/private/var/root/Media/softupgrade" directory.
Can someone help me on how to execute it or give me an idea about how to fix my problem of not get the file in the installer?

Thanks

Posted by elhacker 14 weeks ago ( 04-Feb-2008 20:44:28 )

okay, its it is in system and then tap the dev team update.

Posted by elhacker 14 weeks ago ( 04-Feb-2008 20:45:37 )

it should then be on the spring board and then you just tapp it and go =)

Posted by elhacker 14 weeks ago ( 04-Feb-2008 20:47:06 )

it should be called the official 1.1.3 upgrader

Posted by amigliora 14 weeks ago ( 04-Feb-2008 20:59:22 )

Thanks for your reply, I've tried the official 1.1.3 upgrader, but didn't work.
and I have this official upgrade with out runing the "jailbreak 113"
are both the same thing?
I thought these are two different upgrades, in fact in the official, you have to stay in 1.1.2 jailbreak firmware, is that correct?
iBrickr allows you to stay either 1.1.1 jailbreak firmw or 1.1.2 jailbreak firmw.

I have a new OTB 1.1.3 iPhone, I did the downgrade to 1.1.1 and jailbreak it, then update to 1.1.2 and jailbreak it too, but it is a nice itouch with camera :-)
I couldn't go to 1.1.3 Jailbreak and not phone.

Thanks for any help the group can provide me.

Posted by elhacker 14 weeks ago ( 04-Feb-2008 21:03:06 )

So what your saying is that the phone is still saying incorrect sim?

Posted by elhacker 14 weeks ago ( 04-Feb-2008 21:06:30 )

Try downgrading to 1.1.1 again and redo those steps. Follow only what it says and do everything. Dont listen to other jailbreaking methods like nate trues even though it works. This method is specifically for downgrading and upgrading back to a jailbroken 1.1.3. just try it again. Ive done it many times to make sure and it has worked always but i have found it easier to stay on 1.1.2/1.1.1 due to the fact that 1.1.3 only allows you to run some apps like no customize which i think is awesome. If you continue to have problems then tell me

Posted by elhacker 14 weeks ago ( 04-Feb-2008 21:08:07 )

What im thinking is that you didnt downgrade the baseband and option restore to 1.1.1 again which is essential to making the phone work again.

Posted by amigliora 14 weeks ago ( 04-Feb-2008 21:09:29 )

Yes, you are correct
By the way, I couldn't go to 1.1.3 with success yet.

Using iBrickr 1.1.3 (special) it end ok, but I can't find 113_upgrade in the installer, I check with SCP and the file is in my iPhone.
I've also checked with the official 1.1.3 upgrader, but never end with success.

Don't know if I'm doing something wrong.
I have my Iphone in 1.1.2 jailbreaked with no phone functionality.

I read the new iPhones with new bootloader are still not working in 1.1.3 jailbreak, is that true?
just to not waste my time :-)
thanks for your help

Posted by amigliora 14 weeks ago ( 04-Feb-2008 21:14:34 )

You are right, I didn't downgrade the baseband.
I haven't seen that in the how to's I read.
I'll do a research, while I'm going back to 1.1.1
If you can give me a link with the complete procedure or a clue about how to downgrade baseband I appreciate.
Sorry, we are talkingabout software downgrade with out deal with hardware testpoint, right?

thanks

Posted by elhacker 14 weeks ago ( 04-Feb-2008 21:14:34 )

Im telling you that it is in there. it is under system<Official 1.1.3 upgrader. After it finishes installing just go to the home screen and tap it and follow the steps. And yes, it is true but there is a bootloader downgrade also in unlocking tools but i have never tried dongrading with a 1.1.3 virgin iphone and then downgrading the bootloader so i wouldnt know so i dont recomend it

Posted by elhacker 14 weeks ago ( 04-Feb-2008 21:15:43 )

The guide to donwgrading the baseband is in the directions (step 4)

Posted by amigliora 14 weeks ago ( 04-Feb-2008 23:03:56 )

Well my friend, I was trying to downgrade following step 4, unfortunately didn't work.
Every time I tried to do it I've got error message and stop.
I've seen a message related to this package in the "more info" tab from i.unlock.no saying this package will not work on 1.1.3 out of the box iphones, which is my case.
They also mention, the only way up to now is going to hardware reset and load the old bootloader, which scared me.
I don't know how to continue now.
Thanks for all your help.
I'll be expecting for any other info that help me to unlock my device.

Posted by elhacker 14 weeks ago ( 04-Feb-2008 23:55:46 )

okay, ill be posting a video on youtube by tonight that shows me doing all of the steps above. Did you start with 1.1.3 out of the box? You should have read this carefully. I specifically said at the top not to perform on 1.1.3 out of the box. The best advice i can give you know is to install the bootloader from i unlock. I warned you at the top and it is not my fauslt if your iphone stays like this because i mentioned the warnings and the possible side effects of this process but try the bootloader. Hope this helps, if not, im sorry but as i mentioned, DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sincerely,
elhacker

How does this affect unlocked phones? I once had to downgrade to 1.0.2 so that I could re-install and run anysim, and that was a headache, and was about a 4 hour process.

Will this let me run anySim again once I get to the 1.1.1? Or will that not be neccesary?

Posted by timbo 14 weeks ago ( 05-Feb-2008 10:15:43 )

Tried this several times, getting a Main script execution failed! error when trying to install the Baseband Downgrader. I followed the directions perfectly 3 times, and I get stuck at the same place. I have a 1.1.1 out of the Box iPhone that I upgraded to 1.1.3. Help please.

I have an iphone that I got with 1.1.2 4.6 bootloader and it got updated to 1.1.3 can this be downgraded and unlocked back to a functional iphone using turbosim for any GSM network? I heard it cannot be done, Can you help? Thanks

Posted by elhacker 14 weeks ago ( 05-Feb-2008 15:50:45 )

Hello everyone, i will modify my description as best i can to see if i can help your questions.

Posted by elhacker 14 weeks ago ( 05-Feb-2008 15:54:25 )

Timbo, i got that error multiple times.....All i did was restart my iphone. And then try it again. If this doesnt work, then just restore to 1.1.1 and jailbreak again.

I'm on windows. Thanks again.

Posted by elhacker 13 weeks ago ( 05-Feb-2008 23:36:31 )

I have necer tried it. I am on at&t. You could try it. My guess is that after you downgraded the baseband and restored to 1.1.1 again that you could unlock with anysim.

Posted by yardeem 13 weeks ago ( 06-Feb-2008 00:54:19 )

Well how do you downgrade the baseband using windows and I've heard that it could not be done if you upgraded to 1.1.3 or was it the bootloader you cant downgrade? I'm not an expert at all just been reading the blogs and I need some hel pbecause the phone has been dead since the update came out. So please clarify on how t odo so on windows. Thanks again for your time and response.

Posted by elhacker 13 weeks ago ( 06-Feb-2008 00:55:37 )

It doesnt matter if you are on windows or not. read step 4. That should clarify.

Posted by elhacker 13 weeks ago ( 06-Feb-2008 08:51:38 )

it is the bootloader. For downgrading the base band check step 4.

o.k thanks I'll try. wish me luck!!!

I can't get to the preferences of the iPhone no matter what I do - I put in the url of 'pref' or 'prefs' and it tries to open safari. I can someimes see my wifi as an alert, but CAN NOT get to the preferences page.

Thoughts?

Posted by macattack 13 weeks ago ( 06-Feb-2008 14:38:37 )

A little confusion... Once Iget to step four and install basebanddownloader you said to
1.recovery mode
2.option restore to 1.1.1 agian
After this it doesn't ask me to restore from backup. it just back to emergency calls only...

Posted by elhacker 13 weeks ago ( 06-Feb-2008 16:07:11 )

okay. You have to type prefs: you forgot the semi colin type thing.

As for your question, all of your questions, it seems that this guide is a little problematic. I will try to edit and update it as best I can.

Posted by elhacker 13 weeks ago ( 06-Feb-2008 18:19:28 )

It seems that people are having problems with the soft upgrade. after jailbreak 1.1.2, check out nate trues jailbreak method until i find out what is going on.

Posted by bazooka 13 weeks ago ( 07-Feb-2008 13:05:38 )

Hi Nate, I have a serious problem, I tryed everything to make my phone reboot. Noting, not even a itune restore. I tryed taking the classic ibrik, I run a crashed 1.1.2 jailbroken 3.9 ipsf phone. I tried restore to 1.1.3 has last attempts but it wont work after a 20 min restore. Itunes sees it but not ibrik, new one or old. It makes lines on the springboard while I try to restore it. Then nothing or it says error 6 when i try to restore to a 1.1.2 or 1.1.1, then at one point error 1601 then I got itunes to restore..and it makes me wait hours. Could it be that I damaged my boatloader. And now nothing works! Got An idea for me?

Posted by elhacker 13 weeks ago ( 07-Feb-2008 16:21:17 )

this isn't nate true. Try his blog. But. I do have a solution for your problem. Put you iPhone into recovered mode. Download the 1.1.3 zip and remove the .zip from the end so it ends in .ipsw. Then do option restore to the 1.1.3 firmware. Try that

Posted by bazooka 13 weeks ago ( 07-Feb-2008 20:28:01 )

recovered? you mean recovery mode right? and for the 1.1.3 zip file, where to download? ANd the option restore, you mean the shift+restore trick to put that specific firmware?

Posted by bazooka 13 weeks ago ( 08-Feb-2008 09:40:29 )

I also tried to regarge my battery on the wall. it won't charge. now itunes says error 9 or 6 for restore. ANd independance says that I am connected to it but does noting, all the buttons stays unclickable. Also I tryed to change computer like the error tells me to do in apple error bank, because sometime the pc starts to not recognize what type of material it is. Also, could it be because I went in another time zone? I went to mexico and came back putted my phone in airplane mode and when I arrived in my car I put it in the charger (car charger on airplane mode????) but the freegame started in the plane when I was getting out, the battery was very low. Then it sais on my phone that it needed repair and wouldn't charge. I read most of what everthing is going on on frenchiphone, creation, most of the site... I think I have a big challenge, but I will need tech support, who's up!

Posted by bazooka 13 weeks ago ( 08-Feb-2008 09:42:07 )

I have a pc and a Mac, I don't know about linux. Thanks

Posted by elhacker 13 weeks ago ( 08-Feb-2008 16:48:24 )

Okay, i ran into the same error. Just put your phone into recovery mode, donload the 1.1.3 firmare file and restore to that. It should bring it back to life. Also, update, dont upgrade to 1.1.3. The update is problamatic and for some reason is not working. Also, more apps run on 1.1.2/1,1,1

hey im new here, and i had a fully hacked 1.1.2 iphone with everything you can possibly think of on it. and like a dumbass i upgraded through itunes to 1.1.3 by accident. so i followed your steps and got to step 4, where i had to download the baseband downgrader. everything was going well but then it said "main script execution failed!" i tried restarting the phone, and even re-did the whole process 4 times and still no luck. any solutions? please help.

After this it should come to the main iphone phone page but it does not. It goes back to the slide for emergency page again. What's going on?....thanks for the help.

Hey everyone.. I am Patrick and I need some SERIOUS help. ok.. I have spent about 5 days solid almost trying to update my 1.1.2 to 1.1.3 and nothing.. I get as far as everything being done and then i go to sync for the first time and it tells me to take my phone to apple. I then try again and same thing. I also tried the sync fix and it did the same thing. I have tried and tried and tried.. I can update to 1.1.2 with no problem at all and it is soooo easy to do that but nothing on getting to 1.1.3. I also dont understand why are all these people updating software from installer and taking it away from installer for 1.1.3. With everyone or alot of people having issues trying to get to 1.1.3 i dont think they should take away from 1.1.2. If anyone can help me out that would be great. This is EXACTLY what I do to get to 1.1.2 and it works like a charm for me omg sooo easy...

1) plug I-Phone into I-Tunes and click on Shift / Restore and choose the 1.1.2 File
2) Once you are back to 1.1.2 and back to factory spec's then click on shift / restore and choose 1.1.1
3) you will get 1015 error or something like that. Run Iphuc for windows and type in 3 commands
cmd setenv auto-boot true
cmd saveenv
cmd fsboot
4) That will get you back to the phone.. Now turn on your WiFi and connect
a) close itunes and end it using task manager
b) on your iphone go to http://jailbreak.toc2rta.com
5) Then run Carnaval Folder *click on the file that says "(CLICK HERE) and it will start you off.
6) Everytime you are asked to reboot in Carnaval then you need to run Iphuc and type: cmd fsboot (to get you to the main iphone screen on your phone)
every time it says to do it run it.
7) then when you are done you will have 2 new icons called anysim and installer on your springboard of your phone.
8) Run Installer on your iphone and install BSD Subsystem
9) Install Community Resources
10) Install OktoPrep
11) Open I-Tunes and upgrade to 1.1.2
Close I-Tunes
12) Then Run Windows (Batch File) from 1.1.2 Jailbreak folder from the Patrick Iphone Repair Folder while connected to ITunes

I dont know why no one can actually fix this issue and have a sure way of getting to 1.1.3...

Also if you do take the chance and update to 1.1.3 you wont be able to get some of the programs back like voice recorder and things like that because they are not on installer anymore for 1.1.2

Anyway if you can help please email me at pdconner@comcast.net or www.pdconner.com is my website.

I followed this guide and it worked untill the update to 1.1.3, then it would reboot after the soft upgrade and never get out of recovery. Doesn't matter now anyway I just used the Zibri jailbrake http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/showthread.php?t=29554&highlight=Ziphone I really am not trying to hijack this just want to say that after hours of trying this all I needed to do was 50 seconds with an unpatched 1.1.3 phone the Zibri tool and it was jailbroken. This took me hours and I got no where in the end.I do come away from it with knowing how to fix some issues like a dead badeband.

^^ did you try to run ibrickr?

Posted by nikedunk 12 weeks ago ( 13-Feb-2008 05:48:35 )

how's it going dave, i also have a 1.1.2 OTB then updated to 1.1.3 so I would like to try ur method. If possible can u send me ur tutorial at aripham@yahoo.com thanks in advance and is ur tutorial mac or windows cuz Im using windows xp

Posted by elhacker 12 weeks ago ( 15-Feb-2008 15:32:44 )

Okay, i know that Zibri has just released the new easier iphone 1.1.3 jailbreak but im sending this message to everyone. EVERYTHING YOU CAN DO ON 1.1.3 YOU CAN DO ON 1.1.2/1.1.1 IF YOU INSTALL CERTAIN THRID PARTY APPS. I have also noticed that you can install more apps and they run better on 1.1.2/1.1.1
