This is just a simple retrofit to Nate's incredible lucid dreaming device. I thought it might be uncomfortable to wear the original device at night so I installed it in a stardard sleeping mask. It works perfectly and even has a little pouch to easily reach in and switch it on and off. You can press the button through the mask too if you want. It's not rocket science but I thought people might want to see this variation to the mask.
The first night I used the mask it worked perfectly. I dreamt I was walking through a hallway and the lights above my head started blinking on and off. I looked up at them and then thought, "Oh yeah, it's the mask!" Then I woke up. The key is obviously to take control from that point.
Unfortunately I was on a plane a few months ago and accidentally left the mask in the seat pocket! That's why these images are poor quality. They're from my cell phone and are the only ones I have. I'm sure the flight attendant didn't expect to find a "brain melting" device in seat 22A!
I can't remember what brand this mask is but if anyone finds one please let me know. I'd like to build another one.
I purchased the kit from Nate and assembled it without the head attachment.
I purchased this mask and it's perfect because it has a pouch that you can cut the bottom out of to slip the device through. It's also thick enough to hold the device in place.
I cut out some small plastic discs to keep the LEDs holding on the outside. The plastic I used was from a packaging material. I'm sure you know the stuff, it's impossible to get open and almost every Costco product comes in it.
Then I positioned the LEDs where they should be for my eyes and cut some slits that they could go through.
And that's it! Like I said, not rocket science.
