Rock balancing at Snoqualmie Falls

All > "Art" > Sculpture > Rock balancing at Snoqualmie Falls by natetrue
A pastime I learned about from my friend jesse, rock balancing is in my opinion one of the best ways to spend a day next to a river. The technique is simple - find a rock that would look good balanced on another rock, and balance it.

Bonus if there are people around - everyone is mystified by these beautiful balanced creations. Sometimes you can get them to join in!
It's really cool looking back at all the rocks you've balanced. It always looks kind of alien or exotic.

Have a look at the 3d pictures below - cross your eyes to see them.
The depth really brings them out.
Large rocks are fun to balance, and they look really great when they're up. But be careful if they fall. We didn't leave any of the big rocks up for fear of people playing with them and knocking them over.
Here are two big rocks together. The moving river doesn't conduce itself well to 3d pictures!
Here's what I meant about looking back. Doesn't it look awesome?
Another big rock, this time with fallen tree for added contrast!
Bonus LARGE FREAKING PIPE image.
