But when I looked, I couldn't find one. So naturally, I ended up making my own. When I sought to replace my old speakers with a pair of Sylvania MusicLites screw-in can light speakers, I was disappointed to find that the transmitter only supported a single stereo audio input. With four audio sources (an Apple TV, Xbox 360, Wii, and Airport Express) to play audio from, I wanted a box that would switch between them automatically, based on whichever one was playing audio at the time, rather than a manual switch box that I'd have to bend over the couch into my rat's nest of cables to operate. Since I'm not much of an analog electronics guy, I figured if I was going to pull it off I would need a good switch chip that did the work for me. Enter the analog multiplexer..."

I happened to have a spare http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820208379 tiny USB flash drive around, so how better to get USB power than to also be a flash drive? For this project, I have used an ATMEL AT89S52 microcontroller which is based upon the 8052 core. I have used a column of 8 LEDs for creating the POV effect. The code for this is quite simple and so I have not bothered to post it here. You can post a comment if you want it. Initially it was not working properly because the delay I had used between lighting up each column was about 40 milliseconds. Then after some searching on the net for similar POV toys led me to believe 10 milliseconds might be a good delay. And sure enough, 10 milliseconds made it work. I guess that it is the optimum speed taking into consideration the speed of the moving arm. So here it is, my latest POV toy. Comments are welcome! Below are some time progression snaps that I took when I was making..."

Then iPhone firmware 2.0 came out and turned everything on its head! I had to completely rewrite Dock in order to get it working in 2.0, and of course, I added some handy extra features along the way. http://blip.tv/file/get/Natetrue-Dock31Demo814.flv Features, you say? Dock: - Sorts apps by categories, making large amounts of apps easy to manage - Imports Favorites entries from Phone with pictures, into the "Speed Dial" category - Can be disabled in specific applications - Has a Prefs app that lets you quickly categorize apps the way you want them - Has two "sunburst" modes for even quicker switching - Can see apps hidden by Poof To use, install from Cydia (props to http://blog.psmxy.org Shaun Erickson for packaging), and reboot your phone. With Arduino, as usual the code was quite simple. In fact, I spent more time building the circuit than in writing the code. The only disadvantage I found in the Arduino board was that the PORTD and PORTB sockets have a small gap in between them. Because of this gap, I am not able to evenly fit male-female socket pairs. As a result, I cannot make small home-made Arduino shields using general purpose PCBs. The result? I had to cut pieces of a circuit board with a hack saw, make 2 thin strips, and then had to solder my connectors over..."

It is a Fujitsu Lifebook P1120. An 800MHz Transmetta Crusoe processor, 256Mb of ram directly soldered to the board, and ATi Radeon Moble. It was barely powerful enough to play a decent quality movie, but it could play one for almost 3 hours, with the volume up all the way. It had built-in wifi, 30gb hard drive, super-battery life, and a touch screen. I will not buy another laptop without a touch screen. I don't know where the before pictures are, I think I took them right before my parents used my camera. Who knows. Anyways, I didn't like the greyish purple color of it, so I decided to paint it. Krylon Fusion for the blue, and Krylon smei-gloss black primer, as well as more than 20 coats of Krylon clearcoat(can you tell I like Krylon yet?) I took it apart, and it wasn't the first time, either. I sanded it down, and cleaned it all..."
