<![CDATA[The Blaum Fish]]> Created by julian 6 years ago: "My mom goes on a conference trip to Seaside, Oregon every year, and my brother Sam and I went with her in October '07. While we were there we visited the Seaside Aquarium, and I took this video of some Blaum fish performing their mating ritual. What an extraordinary experience! Many people go their whole lives without witnessing the sheer majesty of these creatures. I was lucky they weren't scared out of the process by my eager camera. <![CDATA[A Winter's Tale Act III (Sophomore Video Project)]]> Created by julian 6 years ago: "For my sophomore (high school, obviously) Language Arts class, we had to film an act from a Shakespeare play (A Winter's Tale for our year) we were analyzing next to the Oedipus Cycle. I had an awesome group and we picked the best act. It has a bear attack and three (count them, 1...2...3) deaths. The first half is bad since it's high school kids trying to look sad and act. The second half was more fun, since Sarah and I got to be nomads. We filmed the first half at Zymogenetics. Sarah's mom works there. The second half was just in my neighborhood. I live..."

I made it while waiting for Julian to finish making a little copper frame for a sculpey version of himself, it's cute. I've been meaning to make a claymation for a really long time, but ever since my mom somehow got the idea that sculpey causes something cancerous or some such, we haven't had any really moldable clay in my house. Anywho, this is disastrously short, but like I said, I didn't spend a lot of time on it, plus I wasn't really sure what he'd do next, so I just left it as it..."

<![CDATA[Experimenting with animation]]> Created by 7 years ago: "Earlyer this year I decided I wanted to make an animated film. I started by doing some small "experiment films, like the one of the baby coming out of a tree. This one was done by drawing each frame in a sketchbook. Then I taped the sketchbook to the wall, and set up a tripod to take a photo of each drawing. I put each photo together in Microsoft Windows moviemaker (a basic video editing program that comes with most windows operating systems). But I wanted to do the real animation with paint, and I didn't want to use up so much paper, so I built a small stand for a rectagular piece of plywood. I set up two lights, the plywood, and a tripod on a small workbench, fastening them to it to decrease camera movment and changes in lighting. After that I simply painted onto the plywood, taking a picture of each frame before painting over it. I was very pleased with the end product although this method of animating was very frustrating and time consuming. If I later realized I had made..."

Like in the new "War of the Worlds" with Tom Cruise. When those giant robots shot out of the ground and started vaporizing people, yeah Tom was pretty scared...but if someone really saw that, they would be SCREAMING, or fainting, or puking...or all three. In real life, if your computer keyboard started floating you would freak out! Your whole reality would be shattered just by that. Now, I loved the movie "Nativity Story", but every time anyone saw an angel, they were completely calm and composed...maybe a little startled at best. Mary didn't even flinch. So when my husband and I were asked to make a video for church, we took all of that into consideration. This is an introductory video to a sermon series about the book of Revelation. Jesse shot the footage, I edited it, and we worked together on sound and digital effects. The actor is our friend, Will. I am..."
